Amos Nappo’s childhood was immersed in the rhythms and traditions of his birthplace, sparking a curiosity in cultural dependences and heritage, whilst also being exposed to the hyper-idealised world presented in television. The friction between these two worlds sparked ontological questions, culminating in a pattern-recognition based investigation into the nature of being. In a world of exponential change, his practice probes the idea that progress is a new form of myth, emphasising the interweaving of technology and commercial brands with societal values. Tribal storytelling and techno-scientific advancements influence and expand contemporary human subjectivity, accentuating naturalcultural hybridization. Interconnected series of sculptures and installations explore objects of the aesthetic, technical, and sacred domains, revealing the hidden complexities of everyday life and the relationships between the natural and cultural, endo- and exo-, past and future.
